J.C. Edwards Ruabon quarry tiles, manufactured in the early 1900s in Wales then built into the Brantford Waterworks expansions around the 1920s. These beautiful and durable tiles were not only aesthetic but also durable and practical in high traffic areas.
This manufacturer was active from 1903 to 1956 alongside other brick and tilemaking companies that utilized the local rich Etruria Marl clay beginning in the 19th century, giving the Ruabon village the nickname “Terracottapolis”. These highly durable, rich red quarry tiles were used throughout the UK and occasionally exported to Canada for special projects, such as the Brantford Waterworks pump building expansion in 1930, from which we reclaimed this inventory.
Price is per square foot.
Salvaged from the recently demolished Brantford Waterworks Engineer's House (c. 1889), these "B.B." marked buff bricks date back to the 1880s. We believe these bricks may have been manufactured by the local manufacturer Blacker's Brick Works, which operated from multiple sites in Brantford and specialized in buff and red brick from 1836 until 1890.
These heritage grade yellow bricks are in excellent condition and well suited for restoration work.
Dimensions (some variation due to reclaimed nature): 9"x2-3/8"x4-1/4"
Price is per brick.
